WildStar: Calendar of events

Are you ready for the party?

It seems that everywhere you look I find people talking about WildStar. Names - it and ask about it. Of all the questions that we receive (apart from the constant requests for access to the beta) people want to know if we are going to follow the Convention circuit. So far this year we have seen the Role Play Convention in Germany and Dreamhack in Sweden.

We have also attended the PAX East and carried out two independent Arkship events, one here in sunny southern California and another for our European friends in Brighton. United Kingdom.

Rest assured that we have been busy but you haven't seen anything yet!

I can officially confirm that we drag a group of members of the development team of Carbine Studios the following events of 2013:

Gamescom 2013: Cologne (Germany) - 22-August 25

For those of you that you're not familiar, Gamescom is held in Cologne, Germany, and is one of the conventions where meet most fanatical gamers in the world. I just took a look at the specifications of the design for our booth and let me tell you that you will marvel. Not to mention the content we're creating for this event. This will include new ads, hours of gameplay with content that you've never seen before and a lot of special events that will give our fans in Germany and the rest of the world the opportunity to be together with the team of WildStar were. We are finalizing the details on our events and working on more opportunities to try the game out of what these conventions. Stay tuned for future news.

 

PAX Prime: Seattle (WA) - 30 August to 2 September

Now if you have not heard about Pax, perhaps you should... spend more time on your computer. If we take as a reference PAX East this year promises to be an amazing show for us. As the Gamescom, we have covered our schedule with activities and of course with hours of play where you can enjoy the latest content of WildStar. This includes panels with developers, incredible activities outside the booth and something with which I'm particularly excited: we will present the first and only Beta Tester panel at our stand, giving you the opportunity to (almost) all questions you may have about how it is to work with the development team to be a beta tester of WildStar, questions about content? The game mechanics? Names - the and can surely say something about. As for Gamescom, we are finalizing the details on our events, including a still-secret gift and very special, on PAX Prime. We had so much to share, that they had to add another day to the event to show it all! (OK, not us looked about it but anyway we're gaining credit).

There are many other planned events to share with you in the coming days but it is still a little early to reveal more details.

Guild Wars 2: who are the Filoetereos?

Steve Hwang, Guild Wars 2 game designer reveals all the secrets of the Filoetereos, the Pirates of the firmament of Tyria.

Still not is known too for the Filoetereos because only have been seen recently in lion's arch.

The Dragonicidio was in full swing in lion's arch and citizens cheerfully aporreaban dragon pinatas, zampaban zhaitamelos and throwing Fireworks. Everyone was enjoying the festival... until the tragedy gripped the ceremony from burning of effigies. After alter one of the effigies to make it emit an arcane vibration, the Filoetereos descended from the heavens with the Inquisa golems, ambushed the Council and annihilated one of its members. If not for the courage of the heroes who helped the lion guard, many more members of the Council had succumbed. But no one has been entrusted: the Filoetereos have done nothing but start to spread in Tyria.

When the equipment of the living world of June was formed, we needed to create a new Alliance of pirates and the Inquisa asura able to sneak into the party of the Dragonicidio of arc of the lion and triggering a series of events that forever change the fate of the Council of the boat.

Until the final name of the team, I was called "Pin-Quest" to this new Alliance plan of joke. ArenaNet uses many unofficial names among us to remember more easily what determined faction, does it look like and what skills used. "Dramas", for example, was the provisional name of the flame Legion and dredge them before being baptized as the fused Alliance.

Currently, the presence of pirates in Tyria is not anything new. There are already various pirate factions laid down in Guild Wars 2, as the Pirates of Costa Mareasangrienta Covington, or triple threat of aircrews pirate scum, spoiler and Wiley in the Campos de Gendarran. And given that so many players have already faced pirates, how confer an appearance and a distinctive air to our new Buccaneers?

First, we needed to establish an aesthetic pirate only. For the Filoetereos, we are inspired by an armature of steampunk style which was in development.

The next thing we believe is that all the pirates have their boat: John Silver the long, Jack Sparrow, Captain Harlock... and our pirate clan could not be less.

However, instead of being the classic villains of seas, the Filoetereos dominate the heights, which meant that we should provide them with suitable transport. It occurred to us that our Pirates of the firmament, delinquents by nature, stolen aircraft to the Pact, which has its own fleet.

But the sky pirates had to transmit a character of its own; not just by their appearance, but by their behavior in the game. They were allied with the Inquisa, the Organization asura unscrupulous whose research knows no moral limits. Certainly, the Alchemy asura can lend the aura of these pirates steampunk. In this case, impregnate to the aesthetics of lightning Filoetereos: arrival is preceded by a lightning strike, and the effects of their abilities, traps and weapons are always electrical.

Finally, we needed a solid name that would convey the pirates and the Inquisa worked as a team. We have just decanted us by a name proposed by our screenwriter, John Ryan: the Filoetereos.

The word "Ethereal", ether, suggests in air and magic, and "filo" evokes the taste of pirates by swords. Short names are cool, easy-to-remember and give players an easily recognizable suffix for variations of enemies: kickers filoetereos thugs filoetereos and swordsmen filoetereos.

We always follow a process markedly repetitive development and collaboration for all updates of the living world. The sooner we are able to introduce a content in a playable way, more time we can receive opinions and information of coworkers and alpha testers to then review it. Even before the steampunk armor added to the game and be prepared map of the Dungeon of history, the Elijah Miller designer had created a map of tests where we could fight against the Filoetereos, try their different skills, sharpen their effects and synchronization and establish an initial level of difficulty.

We wanted to create an army with characters who meet their respective roles and complement their skills and conditions. Here we present a first approximation of the army of Filoetereos that you will find. Note: the veteran versions have extra skills not mentioned here.

Hector filoetereo this hard-hitting but slow pirate is able to immobilize and shoot down their opponents. Crusher filoetereo this sturdy pirate has a combo of three hits and shield. Filoetereo this pirate swordsman inflicts bleeding attacks and incapacitadores, in addition to throwing daggers rivals out of the reach of his sword. Foreman filoetereo what lack them these Brutes in speed make up for it by applying conditions. Kicker filoetereo this conjurer is able to channel a lightning attack and a stunning aura. Grenadier filoetereo as its name suggests, this ruffian throws grenades to sweep their rivals.

Those of you who venture to the Dungeon of history the Filoetereos refuge will be with a few new heads with their own mechanics rife with challenges. The groups will face an engineer asura with rotary electric walls, a first officer with a cannon on his shoulder cannon and partitioning and, finally, a captain with a mastery of the sword and a surprising accuracy. I don't want to tell you too much, so, without a doubt, you should discover them for yourselves.

Inspector Kiel will need your skill and determination to put an end to the threat of the Filoetereos, so give a pass to the front, fight for Lion's arch and show them that they can run, but not to hide. See you in the game!
